Lexis+ with Protégé
LexisNexis UK's AI research and drafting service over its UK legal content, formerly Lexis+ AI. No published price.
Overview
Lexis+ with Protégé is LexisNexis's AI service for legal research, drafting and document analysis. In the UK it replaced Lexis+ AI; LexisNexis UK says the product was renamed in the first quarter of 2026 (LexisNexis UK).
Its advantage over a general assistant is its source material: answers are grounded in LexisNexis's collection of case law, legislation and secondary sources.
For solicitors in England and Wales
This is a UK product built on UK content, including LexisNexis's Practical Guidance. Citations are checked with Case signals, the UK citation service, which shows the status and treatment of an authority (LexisNexis UK).
Grounding reduces errors but does not remove them. A Stanford study of the US versions of the leading research tools, testing US law in 2024, found that Lexis+ AI, Westlaw AI-Assisted Research and Ask Practical Law AI each hallucinated on between 17% and 33% of answers (Magesh and others, 2024). Its findings are not a measure of today's UK product, but the point stands: read the authority before you cite it.
Pricing
Checked 29 September 2026. LexisNexis UK publishes no price. Its product page says pricing depends on the size of the organisation, the capabilities required and the content included, and offers a quote on request.
Security and data
Checked 29 September 2026 against LexisNexis UK's own pages.
- Training. Customer data is not used to train public AI models or to improve AI performance for other customers (product page). For Protégé General AI, prompts and conversations are purged after 90 days or on request (Protégé General AI).
- Where data is held. LexisNexis uses Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services Bedrock, with primary and back-up locations in Europe. For General AI it processes data in the local region, which for UK customers is Europe including the UK.
- Certifications. Independently audited to SOC 2 Type 2 (Protégé General AI). LexisNexis's Trust Center also lists ISO/IEC 27001 at company level.
Using it safely
- Read every authority the tool cites before relying on it. Paragraph 3.2 of the SRA Code of Conduct for Solicitors requires a competent service, and paragraph 3.5 keeps a supervisor accountable for work done through others.
- Documents uploaded to a Vault are client data. Check that the firm's contract with LexisNexis covers them.
